Hyderabad: Medak MP Raghunandan Rao has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana. He accuses Congress leader V. Naveen Yadav of illegally handing out voter ID cards in Jubilee Hills. Rao claims this violates Election Commission rules and points to electoral misconduct before the upcoming by-election.
Rao states that during a recent public event in Jubilee Hills, voter ID cards were distributed with Congress banners and posters. He alleges that V. Naveen Yadav was actively involved, and local police assisted in the unauthorized event, which he calls politically driven.
Rao stresses that only Booth Level Officers (BLOs) should distribute voter ID cards, and only under election authority supervision. He argues that a political party’s involvement breaches electoral law and threatens the democratic process’s integrity.
In his letter, Rao condemns the ruling party’s actions as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. He warns that ignoring such practices could harm the fairness of the Jubilee Hills by-election.
The MP urges the Chief Electoral Officer to conduct a swift inquiry into the matter. He calls for action against officials, including police, who supported the event and demands strict measures to prevent political influence in electoral matters. Rao insists on enforcing Election Commission rules to keep voter ID distribution neutral and controlled.
Photos of the event were included as evidence in the complaint. Rao asks the Commission to address the issue urgently and take decisive steps to maintain electoral integrity in Telangana.
