TGSPDCL is holding a three-day Seva Setu Abhiyan from October 2 to 4, 2026, to help households learn about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and rooftop solar. The field-level camps bring consumers together with TGSPDCL officers, TGREDCO, banks, solar vendors and local public representatives. They provide information on subsidies, finance, installation and net metering.

Under the scheme, eligible households can receive a central subsidy of ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW. The maximum subsidy is ₹78,000 for systems above 3 kW. Group Housing Societies and Resident Welfare Associations may be eligible for central assistance of ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities, including electric-vehicle charging, up to 500 kW, subject to scheme conditions.

Applicants must be Indian citizens or households with a suitable rooftop and a valid domestic electricity connection, and must meet the scheme’s other conditions. A subsidy cannot be claimed again for a solar installation that has already received government assistance. Rooftop solar can help reduce electricity bills and reliance on conventional energy. A 3 kW system may generate more than 300 units a month on average, depending on the location and system conditions. Surplus power can be sent to the grid under applicable net-metering rules.

Eligible consumers can also seek information at the camps about concessional bank finance through participating banks. Officers and representatives can explain loan eligibility, interest rates, repayment periods, documents and application steps, including how the subsidy may be linked to a financed installation. Loan terms depend on current government guidelines and the conditions set by each bank.

Several camps opened or took place across the service area. In Banjara Hills Circle, the CMD inaugurated an awareness camp at TIMS, Sanathnagar. Camps were also held at the Circle Office in Sangareddy, CSC Tandur, ICSC Ibrahimbagh in Cybercity Circle and the Ibrahimpatnam ICSC. In Nagarkurnool, the campaign was inaugurated in the presence of MLC K. Damodhar Reddy, TGSPDCL and TGREDCO officials, bank representatives and solar vendors. The CE, Rural Zone, also attended the Choutuppal camp.

The camps guide consumers through the online application, system capacity selection, authorised vendors, required documents, installation, inspection, commissioning, net metering and subsidy processing. The campaign is part of wider efforts to expand clean energy in Telangana. The Telangana Clean & Green Energy Policy 2025 promotes rooftop and distributed solar, utility-scale renewable energy, battery storage, pumped storage, green hydrogen, EV charging, green-energy investment and energy efficiency. Battery Energy Storage Systems can store renewable electricity and support its use when needed, while helping manage peak demand and improve grid flexibility.
