Hyderabad is considering Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) as part of plans to improve urban mobility. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to explore the system as a way to ease congestion in busy areas.

The proposal was discussed during a review of projects under the Hyderabad Core Urban Region (CURE). The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up planning and examine the possibility of early implementation.

Officials have been asked to look at how a PRT network could connect residential colonies and industrial hubs with Metro Rail, MMTS and TGSRTC bus stations. The aim is to improve links between neighbourhoods and existing public transport services.

The planning is to focus on high-demand routes used by commuters, workers and employees. Identifying these corridors could help officials assess where improved last-mile connections are needed.

The review also called for studying leading PRT systems around the world and assessing modern technology for operating and maintaining such services. The proposal remains at the planning and exploration stage, with officials asked to examine the options.

At the CURE project review, Revanth Reddy directed officials to expedite planning and explore early implementation of the proposed PRT system.
