Text Size: 100%

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed strong displeasure over power cuts in Telangana. He asked officials why the power supply had not improved despite his repeated instructions.

Citing the drought conditions, the Chief Minister ordered round-the-clock power supply to protect standing crops. He said the next 20 days are critical and that power outages will not be tolerated.

He directed officials to identify high-demand agricultural areas and increase the supply there until the crops are harvested. He also questioned why the Yadadri power plant was not generating at full capacity, even though coal linkages from Naini and Mahanadi are available.

Warning of strict action for negligence, the Chief Minister said that even the Special Chief Secretary of the Power Department, the GENCO CMD and other IAS officers could face suspension.

Calling El Niño a “Covid-like disaster”, he ordered every department to prepare an action plan until June. The plan must cover power, drinking water, agriculture and livestock.

The government will also assign Group-1 and Group-2 officers to monitor every mandal. Awareness programmes on water conservation, power saving and drought preparedness will be carried out across the state.
