The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has prepared proposals to build a third radial road linking the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with the RRR (Regional Ring Road). The road will connect Shamirpet to the Nagpur Greenfield Road near the RRR. It will be a 6-lane corridor, 100 metres wide and about 42 km long.

The estimated cost of Radial Road-3 is about Rs. 5,000 crore. The road will start from a point between Shamirpet and Keesara. Radial Road-1 (Raviryal to Amangal) and Radial Road-2 (Budvel to Kodangal) are already under construction. HMDA has also proposed 16 radial roads in various areas between the ORR and the Triple R.

Officials said land acquisition and road works will begin as soon as the government’s permission is received. The works will start under the auspices of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), an HMDA subsidiary. No deadline has been announced.

Radial Road-3 will be built in two phases. The first phase will cover 20 km and the second phase another 23 km. These figures add up to 43 km, while the total length is given as 42 km. HMDA officials said the procedures for this will be clarified soon.

The government has taken steps to set up radial roads to expand industrial areas and develop basic infrastructure. Genome Valley lies near the proposed road. Large government land parcels will be allotted to various types of industries, and logistics hubs will be set up. Vehicles coming to the city from various parts of the country will benefit. Officials said the link to the Nagpur Greenfield Highway will ease movement between the industrial areas of Maharashtra and Hyderabad.
