Auro Realty Acquires Iconic Taj Banjara Hotel in Hyderabad for ₹315 Crore

Auro Realty, the real estate development arm of the Aurobindo Group, has acquired the landmark Taj Banjara Hotel property in Hyderabad for ₹315 crore, according to property data platform Propstack.

The transaction, which took place on October 31, 2025, involves a substantial land parcel spanning 16,645 square yards in the upscale Banjara Hills locality. The property features a built-up area of 1.2 lakh square feet.

Auro Realty paid a stamp duty of ₹17.3 crore for the acquisition, as per registration documents. The asset was previously owned by Hotel Banjara Limited.

The property is strategically located in Banjara Hills, recognized as one of Hyderabad’s most premium commercial and technology corridors. The area commands high real estate valuations due to its central location and connectivity.

The Aurobindo Group, which owns pharmaceutical giant Aurobindo Pharma, has been expanding its real estate portfolio through its development arm Auro Realty.

Earlier this year, the iconic Taj Banjara Hotel faced operational challenges when GHMC officials locked the property over unpaid taxes accumulated over two years. The property was subsequently reopened following a partial payment, according to media reports.

In October 2025, Reuters reported that Auro Realty planned to raise ₹20 billion through a bond sale to finance key acquisitions. The company is looking to issue two-year and four-year bonds with coupons ranging from 11% to 15%, banking sources told Reuters.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the bond issuance represents promoter-level financing intended to acquire assets, specifically including the Hotel Taj Banjara Hyderabad property.

The acquisition marks a significant addition to Auro Realty’s portfolio in Hyderabad’s real estate market. The Banjara Hills location offers substantial redevelopment potential given the area’s premium positioning and growing demand for commercial and residential spaces.

The 16,645 square yards land parcel provides considerable scope for future development projects in one of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods.
