Hyderabad welcomed the contestants of the 72nd Miss World Pageant on Sunday with an insightful visit to the Hyderabad Integrated Command and Control Centre. Contestants from 107 countries learned about the city’s advanced efforts in maintaining public safety, fighting crime, and preventing drug abuse.

At the state-of-the-art facility, officials from the Telangana Police Department gave a detailed overview of how they use modern science and technology to enforce law and order. The visitors were shown how the police protect women and children, control crime, and use digital tools to tackle cybercrimes.

The participants saw live demonstrations from the horse brigade, motorcycle units, pipe bands, and the sniper dog squad. They were also introduced to the Command Centre’s high-tech systems through an engaging presentation at the auditorium. Many of the contestants expressed appreciation for the efforts and even signed posters and shared personal messages supporting the anti-drug campaigns.

Officials highlighted that due to the state government’s strong policies, overall crime in Telangana has dropped by 17%. This improvement has earned the police international recognition. One unique initiative that impressed the guests was the inclusion of transgender individuals in the Traffic Department, a first in India.

The group also got a close look at weapons and gear used by elite police forces like the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS. The contestants enjoyed the experience, taking selfies with the teams and enjoying the cultural displays.

This visit gave the Miss World participants a better understanding of how Hyderabad is using innovation and inclusion to ensure public safety.
