Exciting MLC Elections in Karimnagar: Voters and Parties Await Results

As soon as voting ended on Thursday evening for the Graduate and Teachers MLC elections, discussions about the results began. People are eagerly guessing who will win, and some are even placing bets on the outcome.

The elections took place in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, and Medak districts. There is tough competition among candidates from the BJP, Congress, and BSP. The main candidates are BJP’s Ch Anji Reddy, Congress’ V Narender Reddy, and BSP’s Prasanna Harikrishna. Interestingly, the TRS party did not field a candidate this time. Meanwhile, Malka Komaraiah’s victory as the Teachers’ MLC candidate is almost certain.

Congress candidate Narender Reddy and BSP candidate Harikrishna had been working for months to enroll MLC voters. Once the election notification was issued, both candidates campaigned actively for nearly a month. Their efforts have made the competition even more intense.

In towns and villages, people are discussing the possible results. Party workers are betting on their candidates’ victories, with wagers ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000. Many believe that BJP will get the most votes in Karimnagar, as the constituency is represented by Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Some are betting on BJP’s Anji Reddy, while others believe Congress candidate Narender Reddy will win.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Sridhar Babu see this election as a major challenge. Their supporters are already making plans for celebrations, believing that the Congress candidate will win over BSP’s Prasanna Harikrishna Goud through second-priority votes.

Since this is a three-way contest, it may be difficult for any candidate to get more than 50% of the first-priority votes. In such a case, second-priority votes will play a crucial role in deciding the winner. Both Narender Reddy’s and Anji Reddy’s teams believe that voters who gave their first-priority votes to Harikrishna may have chosen them as their second priority.

On the other hand, Prasanna Harikrishna is confident that voters who supported Narender Reddy and Anji Reddy as their first choice have given him their second-priority votes. Because of this uncertainty, all the major candidates understand that the final result may not be clear just from the first-priority vote count.
