Bhatti warns tax department officials to improve or leave

The State Government is concerned about the drop in income from property registrations in Hyderabad. They have asked the Stamps and Registration Department for a report in two weeks. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is also worried about lower revenue from the Transport Department. The Commercial Taxes Department needs to review other states’ policies to boost tax income.

Vikramarka has instructed senior officials in the Commercial Tax Department to hold meetings by circle to improve revenue. During a meeting about state revenue, he urged officials to assess various commodities individually. He emphasized studying other states’ strategies to find ways to increase revenue. The Deputy CM checked the progress of last year’s committee report on the Stamps and Revenue Department.

He called for a special meeting involving departments connected to the Stamps and Registration Department, such as HMDA, GHMC, and the Housing Board. The Deputy CM instructed the Chief Secretary to ensure all departments work together to raise revenue.

He tasked Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao with conducting a thorough study of the Stamps and Registration Department to enhance revenue and deliver a report in 15 days.

Ministers highlighted the need to identify why the Transport Department is not meeting its goals. They suggested finding solutions and possibly creating a new policy if required.
