Gadwal: Local BJP leaders, led by Aija Town President Kampati Bhagat Reddy, protested near the new bus stand’s main road. They want high-mast street lights at this busy junction.
Bhagat Reddy spoke to the media, criticizing the Congress-led government for neglecting public infrastructure in Aija Municipality, part of Jogulamba Gadwal district. He said the lack of proper lighting at the bus stand and junction makes the area unsafe at night.
He mentioned that in March 2020, an iMAX light pole fell during the COVID-19 lockdown due to poor quality. No one was hurt, but no actions were taken to fix the lighting problem, leaving the area dark for over four years.
Several appeals were made in the past:
- To former Municipal Commissioners on September 28 and October 24, 2024
- To the current Commissioner on June 2, 2025
- To the District Collector on March 13, 2025
After the Collector’s involvement, 20 high-mast lights were approved for Aija Municipality in May 2025. However, Bhagat Reddy claimed that these lights were installed in areas favoring Congress leaders, without consulting municipal officials or public representatives, ignoring the crucial bus stand junction.
He called for the Municipality Commissioner, District Collector, and the State Government to act immediately to ensure public safety and convenience.
“If the government doesn’t act fast to install the lights, the BJP will join with the public for massive protests,” warned Bhagat Reddy.
Others present included District Council Member Pradeep Kumar, Aija Town Vice-President Lakshman Goud, and OBC Morcha District Committee Members Lakshmachari, Raghu, Veeresh, Venkatesh, and Shivayya, among others.
