Hyderabad: The BRS is planning a series of meetings in Krishna basin districts to address the alleged neglect by the Congress government concerning Krishna river water management, especially the Banakacherla issue.
On Monday, senior leaders gathered at K Chandrashekar Rao’s residence in Nandi Nagar. He called for a meeting with KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, and G Jagadish Reddy. This meeting is important because the government plans to issue an ordinance granting 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in upcoming local elections. The first public meeting by BRS is set for Mahabubnagar.
The party wants to inform the public about the government’s lack of attention to Telangana’s needs. Sources say K Chandrashekar Rao has asked two prominent leaders to start preparing for local elections. Training for party members will begin with the TRSV, the student wing, on July 19 at Telangana Bhavan. Other groups will get training later. T Harish Rao and Deshapati Srinivas are responsible for these sessions, according to insiders.
Additionally, the BRS will back a protest by BC organisations at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, on Tuesday. Party members are encouraged to support the protest, highlighting the government’s slow action on the 42% reservations. There was a strategy discussion about the party’s response if the government issues an ordinance. After training, the party might actively join protest activities.
