Gadwal:
BRS District Coordinator Kuruv Pallayya and other local leaders have demanded an immediate stop to plans for building an ethanol factory near Pedda Dhanwada village in Rajoli Mandal, Alampur constituency. On Sunday, they visited the proposed site for the factory.

While speaking to the media, they expressed concerns that the factory would damage green farmlands and harm the livelihoods of local people. They warned that the air, water, and food sources in the area would become polluted, leading to serious health problems for residents. This could shorten life expectancy and endanger lives. They also feared that the fertile crops and black soil in the region would turn unproductive, making the land unsuitable for agriculture.

The leaders also claimed that the factory management began construction without consulting the local public or obtaining necessary approvals. They pointed out that even the gram panchayat had not been approached for basic permissions.

Moreover, the land set aside for the factory is next to 156 acres of farmland given to Dalits by the previous government, which is currently being used for cultivation. They are worried this land will become contaminated. Additionally, the area where residential plots were given to flood-affected residents of Chinna Dhanwada village after the 2009 floods is also close to the factory site. The leaders believe it is unfair to allow the factory to proceed without considering the hardships of the local people.

Pallayya said they plan to raise the issue with BRS working president K T Rama Rao.
