Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is set to commemorate December 9 as ‘Vijay Diwas’. This date is significant in the journey of forming Telangana as a state. K. T. Rama Rao, the BRS Working President, has urged party members to mark this day with celebrations across all constituencies.

In a recent teleconference with party leaders, KTR emphasized the importance of December 9, 2009, when the central government began the process of creating Telangana. This move was prompted by the hunger strike of BRS founder K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

KTR encouraged the party to ensure that ‘Vijay Diwas’ is celebrated with the same enthusiasm as ‘Deeksha Diwas’, which took place on November 29. On that day, KCR started his hunger strike advocating for Telangana’s statehood.

He highlighted that Telangana’s decades-long dream started to become reality on December 9 due to KCR’s actions. To honor this historic milestone and KCR’s sacrifices, KTR suggested organizing events in constituency centers.

Given the local body elections, KTR advised focusing celebrations in constituency centers rather than villages. He directed party members to perform a milk bath ceremony for the ‘Telangana Thalli’ statues at these centers.

Additionally, KTR instructed the party to lay garlands on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statues and distribute fruits to patients in government hospitals. Pink balloons, representing victory, will be released at party offices or main intersections.

KTR also asked party members to hold media briefings to remind the public of KCR’s hunger strike, the Telangana movement, and the sacrifices made by students.

At Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and Gandhi Hospital, where KCR held his fast, fruit distribution events will occur under former minister T. Srinivas Yadav’s leadership. KTR encouraged city leaders to join these activities.
