Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) recently raised city bus fares following an increase in bus pass prices. Starting October 6, passengers will pay between Rs 5 and Rs 10 more on city routes. Those traveling up to three stops, previously paying Rs 10, will now pay Rs 15. For journeys beyond the fourth stop, the fare will rise to around Rs 20.
This fare adjustment is part of a larger government initiative to replace diesel buses with 2,800 electric buses by 2027 within the Outer Ring Road limits. Currently, 265 e-buses operate from six depots in Greater Hyderabad, with an additional 275 buses expected this year. TGSRTC is also setting up charging facilities at 19 depots and building 10 new depots with charging stations, with a project cost of Rs 392 crore. TGSRTC is asking for public support for this project, highlighting its aim to create a cleaner and healthier Hyderabad.
