Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly collaborating on a false narrative about urea shortages. He pointed to a statement by BRS working president K T Rama Rao about supporting any party that provides urea as evidence of their cooperation.

During a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Revanth Reddy claimed he had been observing the situation closely. He assured that the state government was managing urea distribution effectively at the district level, despite the Centre’s lack of assistance. The Chief Minister explained his efforts to engage the Union government by meeting with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Anupriya Patel four times to address the urea issue. He thanked his party’s leadership for nominating Justice Sudarshan Reddy as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the INDI bloc.

Discussing the 42% reservation for BCs (Backward Classes), Revanth Reddy noted that the state government had tried to amend a law by KCR restricting total reservations in local bodies to 50%. The amendment, introduced through an Ordinance, awaits approval. “The Governor sent it to the Centre. Under KCR’s law, BCs are denied any reservation. We hired two lawyers to represent our state’s case in the Supreme Court about the President’s deadline to approve bills within 90 days. Our BC bill is included in this. If we approach the Supreme Court separately, it could delay the hearing,” he stated.
