In Nadi Agraharam village, located in the Gadwal constituency, a significant land dispute has arisen. The issue centers around a community hall between the Santana Venugopala Swamy and Chennakeshava Swamy temples, along with the nearby land.
Villagers claim that some people are trying to construct commercial buildings on this land, allegedly bought in the name of certain royals. The locals oppose this development due to the area’s religious and cultural importance.
During major festivals like Ekadashi, the space around the temples becomes crowded as hundreds of devotees visit for Ganga Pooja and to bathe in the Krishna River. They need open areas for parking and movement. The community insists that the land next to the hall should remain for religious and public purposes, allowing only the current guest house to operate.
Amid ongoing protests, villagers say they face harassment through false police cases and pressure tactics. The land matter is also in court. They have asked the district administration to stop any commercial projects and maintain the area’s sanctity.
In response, the District Collector assured villagers that efforts would be made to resolve the issue peacefully. He noted the lack of harmony in the village due to the conflict and promised to send the Additional Collector to mediate the dispute. He urged both parties to cooperate for a fair solution regarding the land.
With the Additional Collector’s visit anticipated soon, villagers hope for a peaceful resolution that respects the area’s spiritual and community value.
