Damodar advises doctors to release patients only when fully recovered

Hyderabad: On Friday, Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narsimha emphasized that patients affected by the adulterated toddy incident should only leave the hospital once they are completely well.

He checked on the health of those treated at NIMS and Gandhi Hospitals after consuming contaminated toddy. While visiting Nagarkurnool district, the minister spoke with doctors and senior health officials at both hospitals over the phone.

Doctors updated him on the patients’ conditions. Officials reported that 35 patients are under care at NIMS and 18 at Gandhi Hospital. NIMS Director Dr N Beerappa mentioned that five patients at NIMS would be discharged on Friday, while treatment continued for the remaining 30.

At Gandhi Hospital, doctors noted that four of the 18 patients required dialysis, with the other 14 in stable condition.

The minister instructed doctors and officials to ensure excellent care for all patients. He emphasized that patients should stay in the hospital until they fully recover before being discharged.
