Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender has issued a stern warning to officials, stating that those who blindly follow the orders of their political superiors could end up facing jail time. He was addressing a protest held by people displaced due to HYDRA demolitions in Marutinagar, Kothapet, on Friday. Rajender assured the displaced families that they would not be abandoned and that the BJP would stand by them in their struggle.
Rajender shared the plight of those affected, saying, “We saw a woman in Gangaphad who was earning her living by selling water packets, and others in Kukatpally who ran catering businesses and flex-making shops. All of them were left stranded in the name of demolishing encroachments near Nallahervu.” He criticized the demolition teams for their harsh actions, explaining how they not only displaced people but also destroyed movable items without any thought for the consequences. He accused HYDRA officials of acting with vengeance, deliberately destroying machinery and valuable stock by running bulldozers over them.
The MP expressed disappointment with the lack of planning for the Musi River cleanup, despite Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s announcement to undertake the project. Rajender pointed out several issues, such as the shortage of medicines in dispensaries and unpaid wages for workers. He questioned the government’s commitment to spending Rs 1.5 lakh crore on the Musi River cleanup, suggesting that it was more about earning commissions than genuinely improving the river. “They are creating a colorful illusion by seizing the lands of the poor and handing them over to the wealthy under the pretext of cleaning the Musi River,” he alleged.
Residents who had bought patta lands near the Musi River years ago and built homes are now receiving notices for violating Full Tank Level (FTL) regulations in areas like Chaitanyapuri. These residents are protesting, saying that demolitions should only happen over their dead bodies. They expressed their anger, stating that if they die, their homes will be demolished, leaving nothing but rubble on their remains. Rajender criticized Chief Minister Reddy, accusing him of behaving like the “heir of Rajakars” and mocking those who are suffering due to the demolitions.
In a particularly emotional case, residents of Jayapriya Apartments, which were built 30 years ago, have been asked to vacate for demolitions. They were promised double-bedroom houses in return, but they are now worried about how they will find employment after being displaced. Rajender warned that IAS and IPS officers who follow their political bosses’ orders without question would eventually land in jail. He reassured the protesters that the BJP, along with its MPs and MLAs, would continue supporting their cause.
