Hyderabad recently hosted a successful Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Unlocking Cloud Potential – Bridging Theory and Practice for Educators.” The event offered attendees a mix of technical insights, field experiences, and policy discussions.

Dr. Padmaja Karanam V, a Senior Agri-Environmental Scientist at ICRISAT, delivered a technical session. She discussed how cloud technologies are essential in agri-environmental management, particularly for analyzing large datasets and creating predictive models to support sustainable farming in dryland areas.

Participants had the opportunity to visit the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Balanagar, Hyderabad. This visit highlighted the use of remote sensing in agriculture, urban planning, and disaster monitoring. Attendees saw firsthand how cloud technologies and scalable storage are crucial in national projects. They also learned about integrating AI with open data and the importance of geosciences research.

A significant session focused on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr. Rama Kondapally from Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Dr. S.V. Satyanarayana, a retired professor from Osmania University, led this discussion. They emphasized the evolution of India’s education system and encouraged teachers to align with NEP 2020’s goals of innovation, flexibility, and lifelong learning.

The programme wrapped up with a Valedictory Session featuring Dr. G.S.V.R.K. Choudary, Principal of Bhavan’s Vivekananda College, and Dr. K.V.B. Saraswathi Devi, Head of the Department of Computer Science. They praised the participants for their involvement. Mrs. K. Padmapriya, Coordinator of ATAL FDP, presented a comprehensive report, while participants shared their positive experiences, highlighting the programme’s effective blend of theory and practice.
