Thousands of people from all over the state came to Hyderabad to witness the funeral of balladeer Gaddar, whose real name is Gummadi Vittal Rao. His final rites were held at Mahaboodhi Vidyalaya in Alwal, where he was buried with full state honors. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao visited Gaddar’s residence and paid his respects to the family, along with other ministers. The funeral procession started at LB Stadium and passed through various landmarks before reaching Alwal. Many people, including political leaders and artists, came to pay their respects to Gaddar throughout the day. Activists and artists performed various folk forms during the procession as a tribute to Gaddar’s contributions to the Telangana movement. However, the decision to give him state honors was questioned by the Anti-Terrorism Forum (ATF). They believe it will upset the families of martyred policemen and suggested that the Police Officers’ Association should also oppose the decision.
