Gadwal: Students from Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Gattu Mandal have voiced their concerns about the poor state of their school. They wrote to the Chief Minister of Telangana, asking for help with the school’s basic infrastructure issues.
Students Speak Out
PDSU District President Haleem Pasha shared that the school lacks essential facilities. He highlighted that students must study outside without proper shelter due to the education department’s neglect.
Basic Needs Unmet
The school struggles with several problems:
- No clean drinking water
- No working toilets, forcing students to use open areas
- No physical education (PT) teacher, limiting sports and relaxation
- Poor quality midday meals with undercooked rice and sambar, lacking promised nutrition
These issues have persisted for two to three years, with no action from officials despite repeated complaints.
Letters to the Chief Minister
The students, led by PDSU, sent letters to the Chief Minister, seeking his help. A student mentioned that solving these issues would bring much-needed relief.
Call for Action
The students and PDSU leaders demand:
- Classroom construction and repairs
- Access to clean water and proper toilets
- Hiring a PT teacher immediately
- Better midday meals in line with nutrition guidelines
Activists Support Students
PDSU leaders, including Haleem Pasha, Venkatesh, Rafi, and Shakeel, attended the event to support the students. They urged the government to ensure the right to education and dignity for rural students.
This situation highlights the need for urgent government attention to improve conditions for students in rural Telangana schools.
