Government to celebrate Bathukamma festival like Rio Carnival at Tank Bund

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will host a Bathukamma Carnival at Tank Bund on September 27. This event is inspired by the Rio Carnival and features nine programs during Sharad Navratri, starting September 21.

Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, along with Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and Panchayati Raj Minister Sitakka, shared the festival’s poster. They announced significant preparations to showcase Telangana’s rich culture. Aimed at breaking a Guinness World Record, over 10,000 women will gather at L B Stadium on September 28 for grand celebrations. The highlight will be the “Floating Bathukamma” at Hussain Sagar. Special festivities with women’s self-help groups will occur at People’s Plaza. The program runs from September 21 to 30, with events at the Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal on September 21 and in various districts from September 22 to 24.

In Hyderabad, the Bathukamma Carnival Evening at Tank Bund is on September 27. On September 28, L B Stadium will host the Guinness World Record attempt, alongside a Bathukamma Cycle Ride. On September 29, the Best Bathukamma Competition will take place at People’s Plaza, with events for IT employees and RWAs. The festival concludes with a Grand Floral Parade and Floral Holi at Tank Bund on September 30. A Vintage Car Rally will also be featured. Additionally, an art camp with a Bathukamma theme is set at the State Art Gallery in Madhapur from September 25 for four days.
