A yellow alert is in place for 13 districts today and 12 tomorrow, following rains that hit areas like Hyderabad on Monday.
On Monday, cumulonimbus clouds caused heavy rain in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts from noon until 8 PM. Streets turned into ponds, disrupting traffic as people tried to get home. Many IT workers stayed at their offices until 7 PM due to the conditions.
A lightning strike hit a palm tree near Lanko Hills in Khajaguda, alarming local residents. Flooding occurred in low-lying areas of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, with Mahadevpur GHMC division recording 15.1 cm of rain, and Banjara Hills seeing 12.4 cm. Hyderabad Metro stations and trains were packed with people seeking alternative transport during the heavy rain.
