Telangana is experiencing severe rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more intense showers across the region. Heavy rains have already drenched several districts overnight, with some areas recording over 20 centimeters of rain, as per the Telangana Development Planning Society data.
On Wednesday, adverse weather conditions led to the diversion or cancellation of several flights. Specifically, eleven flights were redirected, and seven returned to Hyderabad later that evening.
In response to the rain, Visakh G. Iyer, the Lucknow District Magistrate, announced the closure of all schools, both government and private, for classes 1-12 in Lucknow due to the inclement weather.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is on high alert, with all leaves canceled. Efforts are underway to clear waterlogged areas, manage stormwater drains, repair damaged roads, and advise residents to avoid flood-prone zones.
Early morning rains hit parts of Delhi and the surrounding NCR areas hard. Heavy showers were especially intense in Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Lodhi Road, and along the Delhi-Haryana Border.
The IMD has issued warnings for heavy rain in some parts of North India. As a precaution, all schools in the Medchal-Malkajgiri District will remain closed on Thursday.
This rain pattern is expected to continue for the next three days, affecting multiple districts across Telangana.
