Hyderabad airport faced a security scare on Friday, November 14 when officials received a threatening email claiming explosives were aboard an incoming British Airways flight.
The email warned of a bomb on Flight BA 277 traveling from London to Hyderabad. Airport security teams immediately activated emergency protocols at 5:00 AM, just 30 minutes before the aircraft’s scheduled arrival.
British Airways Flight BA 277 touched down safely at 5:30 AM with all passengers and crew unharmed. The flight carried 167 people total, including 155 passengers, 2 infants, 2 pilots, and 8 cabin crew members.
Security forces quickly evacuated everyone from the aircraft without incident. Cyberabad police officers began thorough inspections of passenger luggage and belongings as part of standard bomb threat procedures.
Social media videos captured police teams methodically checking bags and conducting security sweeps throughout the airport terminal. The footage showed the professional response of law enforcement during the emergency situation.
Another flight faced similar threats on the same day. IndiGo Flight 6E 1408 from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad received bomb warnings and was redirected to Mumbai airport as a safety precaution.
This incident mirrors a recent false alarm from November 10. Another British Airways flight from London to Hyderabad received a bomb threat email that investigators later confirmed was fake.
That earlier flight carried over 200 passengers and landed safely around 5:30 AM. CISF and police teams conducted complete security checks but found no dangerous materials or devices.
Authorities determined the November 10 threat was a hoax after extensive investigations. Police filed criminal charges and continue investigating the source of the false warnings.
These repeated fake bomb threats have prompted increased security measures at Hyderabad airport. Officials are working with cybercrime units to track down individuals responsible for sending threatening emails to aviation authorities.
