Hyderabad police use PD Act on repeat sexual offender

Hyderabad: Authorities have used the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Syed Abdul Basit, a 23-year-old known for repeated sexual offenses involving children.

Basit, who lives in New Malakpet, allegedly committed three sexual offenses against minors over the past year.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar stated that Basit poses a serious threat to children due to his repeated offenses. Therefore, the PD Act was applied to prevent further harm.
