Hyderabad to Get India’s First Urban Artificial Beach at Kotwalguda with ₹235 Crore Investment
Residents of Hyderabad and Telangana will soon experience a beach destination within city limits, eliminating the need to travel to coastal states for seaside recreation. The state government has announced plans to develop a state-of-the-art artificial beach in the city.
The ambitious project will be developed on a sprawling 35-acre site at Kotwalguda with an estimated investment of ₹235 crore. This initiative aims to transform the recreational landscape of Telangana and position Hyderabad as a unique tourist destination.
The artificial beach project will feature several world-class attractions. A major highlight will be a tunnel aquarium, designed on par with similar facilities in Dubai and Singapore. This underwater attraction will offer visitors an immersive marine experience, allowing them to walk through transparent tunnels surrounded by aquatic life.
In addition to the beach and aquarium, the project will include a flying theatre, which will provide visitors with a simulated aerial experience. The state government is also planning to establish a caravan park at Vikarabad to further boost tourism and recreational opportunities in the region.
The announcements were made as part of the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, being held at Bharat Future City. Several companies are expected to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Telangana government for these tourism and infrastructure projects.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is scheduled to be present during the MoU signing ceremonies, which will formally launch these projects in the state. The summit serves as a platform to attract investments and showcase Telangana’s potential as a business and tourism hub.
The artificial beach project represents a significant step in Telangana’s efforts to diversify its tourism offerings beyond traditional attractions. By bringing a beach experience to a landlocked state, the government aims to create a unique recreational space for both residents and tourists.
The Kotwalguda artificial beach, along with the accompanying attractions, is expected to become a major draw for families and tourists seeking entertainment and leisure activities within Hyderabad. The project also aligns with the state’s broader vision of developing world-class infrastructure and tourism facilities.
