A major step toward decongesting the city’s existing railway stations, the South Central Railway (SCR) has proposed the construction of three new railway terminals in and around Hyderabad.
The proposed terminals will be located at Nagulapalli (325 acres), Dabeerpura (250 acres), and Jukkal near Shamshabad (300 acres). Each terminal is planned to include 14 to 20 platforms, modern passenger facilities, and integrated connectivity with road transport networks.
These new terminals are expected to reduce the pressure on Secunderabad, Kacheguda, and Nampally stations, which currently handle a large volume of passengers and train operations daily.
Officials said the new infrastructure will enable smoother train scheduling, minimize delays, and improve the passenger experience. The proposal has been submitted to the government for approval, and once sanctioned, work is expected to begin in phases.
The project marks a significant expansion of Hyderabad’s rail network, aligning with the city’s growing transportation demands and future urban development.
