A man named Naga Raju Karthik has been arrested for committing several crimes in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand. Karthik pretended to be an Army or Police officer and threatened and extorted people. He was caught by the Cyberabad Special Operations Teams Shamshabad Zone at Madhapur on Wednesday with a country-made pistol, uniforms, ID cards, and other materials worth Rs 2 lakh.

Karthik had previously worked as a cab driver and stole a car from the company. He also stole two cars from a software company owner. Additionally, he posed as a major in the Indian Army and started training people illegally by establishing Sainik Defence Training Centre. He was arrested for this illegal activity by the local police in Podur in AP.

After being released from prison, Karthik continued his criminal activities and robbed a sex worker and assaulted a drug peddler posing as a cop. He also kidnapped and extorted money from an elderly man and cheated Rs 9 lakh at Devaghar in Jharkhand.

Karthik was detained under the Preventive Detention Act in May 2022 and recently released. He came to Hyderabad and purchased police-related uniforms, handcuffs, a lathi, pistol pouch, and other materials from a dealer in the Old City. He then started threatening people posing as a police inspector.

Karthik’s criminal activities were eventually caught by the police, who found out that he had previously worked with an Ex-Army officer named Bikkudar Das, from whom he gained knowledge about Army ranks, uniform, batches, and other vital information.
