The government has ordered that hotels must sell bottled water at the printed Maximum Retail Price (MRP) due to increasing complaints of overcharging. As a result, all hotels, restaurants, and other eateries have been directed to provide free purified water supplies from Metro Water Works or RO Water to their customers. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary, Arvind Kumar, issued these orders to vendors in Greater Hyderabad and instructed the GHMC Commissioner to take appropriate action. However, if the management decides to supply packaged water bottles to their customers, they must only sell them at the MRP price printed on the bottle and not overcharge. The decision came after an NGO lodged a complaint that many hotels and restaurants were selling packaged drinking water under different brand names at exorbitant rates, causing inconvenience to the public.
