The city of Hyderabad is all set to witness a historic event on April 14, 2021, as the grand unveiling ceremony of a 125-ft statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is scheduled to take place. The statue, which is said to be the tallest in the world, is located at the sprawling L.B. Stadium complex in the heart of the city. The event is expected to be attended by thousands of people from all over the country.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb, was one of the most prominent figures in India’s freedom struggle and is widely regarded as the father of the Indian Constitution. He was a champion of social justice and equality and fought tirelessly for the rights of the Dalits, who were then known as untouchables.
The idea of constructing a statue in his honor was first proposed by the Telangana government in 2015, and after years of planning and construction, it is finally ready for unveiling. The statue has been built using bronze and stands on a granite pedestal that is 34 feet high. It weighs around 46 tonnes and has been designed by renowned sculptor Ram V. Sutar.
The unveiling ceremony is expected to be a grand affair, with several dignitaries from the political and cultural spheres attending the event. The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is expected to preside over the ceremony, while other prominent guests include Union Ministers, Governors, and Members of Parliament.
The statue has been built at a cost of around Rs. 100 crore and is expected to become a major tourist attraction in Hyderabad. It is located in a prime location near the Hussain Sagar lake and can be easily accessed by tourists and visitors.
Apart from the statue itself, the L.B. Stadium complex has been given a major facelift with new landscaping, lighting, and other amenities. The Telangana government has also announced plans to develop the area around the statue into a cultural hub that will showcase the state’s rich history and heritage.
The unveiling of the statue is a fitting tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, whose contributions to India’s social and political landscape are immeasurable. It is also a testament to the spirit of unity and inclusiveness that he stood for, and which continues to inspire millions of people across the country. The grand ceremony is sure to be a memorable event that will go down in the annals of India’s history.
