Hyderabad: The City’s Sikh neighborhood secured a Nagar Kirtan (divine procession) from Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, on Friday, as component of the continuous events of the 553’Prakesh Utsav’, the birth wedding anniversary of Guru Nanak (November 8).
Around 20,000 Sikh enthusiasts participated in a grand procession, the unique destination of which was ‘Gatka’, a popular Sikh fighting style kind executed by young people coming fromKalgidhar Dashmesh Jatha
Throughout the procession biography as well as mentors of Guru Nanak were shown on an enhanced automobile with LED display. A divine procession was secured from Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad at night through Manohar talkies, Clock Tower, Bata, Patny Circle, Kingsway, Monda Market,Alpha Hotel It went back to the Gurudwara in the evening.
A participant of GSS Prabhandak Committee, stated, “Nagar Keertan was marked by carrying of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji, (revered scripture of Sikhs on a beautifully decorated vehicle, followed by Nishaan Sahebans (religious flag bearers) and demonstration of Gatka skills by youths from Punjab and Hyderabad. The Shabad Kirtan were rendered by the Keerthani Jathas.
He said the main celebration, Prakesh Utsav, on November 8, to mark Vishaal Deewan(mass congregation) will be organised at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally.
Said Akash Singh, a devotee, ” for the previous 10 years I have actually been participating in this procession. I as well as my family members particularly participate in the procession to see the mesmerising Sikh fighting styles showcased by the young people.”
