Some of the top private schools in Hyderabad are exploiting parents by creating new rules and regulations that cause financial and emotional stress. Parents claim that these schools are becoming a law unto themselves and could turn into a kind of mafia. They charge high fees for activities like swimming and horse riding, and are now insisting on electronic payment systems that require parents to submit personal information. Schools like Chirec, DRS, Glendale Academy, Narayana and Chaitanya are all guilty of this behavior. The Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) has warned that schools should not be forcing parents to sign up for ECS mandates or provide Aadhar details. Parents are urging the government to intervene.
