Officials from the HMDA demolished five houses that were being built illegally on a highway in Pedda Amberpet village, Ranga Reddy district on Saturday. The team included HMDA ORR land acquisition officer V Victor, a local tahsildar, police, and enforcement DSP Venkatesh. They tore down the houses, along with their compound walls and gates, and filed a criminal complaint against those who built them.

The land where the houses were being built was handed over to the HMDA by the Ranga Reddy district Collector on December 31, 2010. The State government gave the land to the HMDA so that it could be given to people who had lost their lands in the ORR project. The officials also warned anyone who tries to illegally take over HMDA land of serious consequences.
