The Telangana Government will offer a good price to maize farmers in the state, just like last year. They will buy maize grown by farmers in the Yasangi (Rabi) season and pay a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs.1,962 per quintal. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, told the Agriculture Minister, S Niranjan Reddy, to set up procurement centres as soon as possible. Maize was grown in about 6.50 lakh acres in the State, especially in Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Khammam districts. Officials think that maize production will be almost 17.37 lakh tonnes. So, they have told officials to get ready for setting up procurement centres.
