Hyderabad: Finally, after 3 days of objection by UG pupils of Nizam College over hostel holiday accommodation, the Commissioner of Collegiate Education on Friday routed the authorities to allocate 50 percent of hostel capability to UG females in the recently created hostel structure with prompt result. The remainder 50 percent will certainly most likely to PG pupils.
However, the UG pupils revealed annoyance over the statement and also endangered to proceed the objection till 100 percent allowance is assured to UG pupils.”
Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy on Friday tweeted that the government had ” dealt with the problem” of the students. After due consideration of the issue, Naveen Mittal, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, issued orders of allotting hostel accommodation to both UG and PG students.
According to students, the new hostel building was sanctioned by Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, when he visited the college in 2017, following a request from the college management. Construction for the building, at an approximate cost of Rs 6.25 crore began in 2018.
The building, spread over 37,163 sq ft, was completed six months back but the college principal cited excuses like lack of beds or compound walls to ” delay the holiday accommodation” of students. But since a week the accommodation is being given to PG students.
Priya, a second-year degree student, said “During our conference with authorities of the Education division on Thursday we were guaranteed that an extra flooring or structure to fit all UG pupils would certainly be developed and also in addition to 50 percent holiday accommodation in today structure.
But in the order provided by authorities this was not stated. The order just defined that 50 percent of holiday accommodation will certainly be allocated to UG pupils and also 50 percent to PG pupils. We will certainly proceed the objection till 100 percent allowance is assured to UG pupils.”
