Observance of World Sleep Day by TSRTC
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) celebrated World Sleep Day on Friday, with the theme “Sleep is Essential for Health.” The event was held at Bus Bhavan and was attended by TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar and sleep disorder specialist Dr Vyakaranam Nageshwar.
World Sleep Day is an annual event that aims to promote healthy sleep habits and encourage people to prioritize their sleep health. This year’s theme highlights the importance of getting adequate and quality sleep for maintaining physical and mental health.
During the event, Sajjanar emphasized the need for a full night’s sleep to stay healthy and productive. He also noted that lack of sufficient sleep can cause tiredness, lack of focus, and concentration on work. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in the number of people suffering from sleep problems, according to many studies.
Dr Nageshwar explained the health problems caused by insomnia, including hypertension, heart-related ailments, depression, and other diseases. He advised everyone to change their lifestyle and sleep on time to avoid these issues.
TSRTC Chief Operating Officer Dr V Ravinder, Joint Director Dr Sangram Singh G Patil, Executive Directors, and others also attended the event. The officials were directed to educate drivers about the importance of sleep and health issues to ensure they prioritize their sleep health.
