The Telangana government is working to provide better healthcare for poor people in cities by building more Basti Dawakhanas. By the end of June, there will be 500 of these healthcare facilities in urban areas throughout the state. This includes 350 in areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and neighboring districts of Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts, and 150 in other major urban municipalities.

Currently, there are 363 Basti Dawakhanas in Telangana and another 57 are ready to open. The remaining 80 will be completed by the end of June. To make sure everyone has access to healthcare, the facilities will be open on Sundays if needed. Senior doctors will be available every day between 9 am and 4 pm.

In addition to the urban healthcare centers, there will be 3206 Palle Dawakhanas across Telangana by the end of May. The health department is recruiting for 321 vacant positions in these facilities. Sign boards in Telugu will be posted to show the hours and available services.

The government plans to complete major medical infrastructure projects soon, including the construction of Warangal Health City, four Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences super specialty hospitals, and NIMS in Hyderabad. They hope to inaugurate all the super specialty hospitals by the Dasara festival.
