HYDRAA officials recently demolished structures on a 36-acre piece of government-owned land in Bhikshapati Nagar, near the RTA office. The operation was carried out with strict security measures, including police presence and barricades set up two kilometers away, limiting local access.
Residents were caught off guard, as many had lived there for up to 60 years. In response, HYDRAA provided temporary housing for those displaced and fenced the area, marking it as government property.
The land, under Survey No. 59, is valued at about Rs 3,600 crore. Although the demolitions were legally justified, local farmers voiced their concerns, emphasizing their long-standing connection to the land they have cultivated for decades.
