In a significant enforcement action, HYDRAA has successfully safeguarded 16 acres of valuable government land worth approximately ₹3,200 crore in TNGO Colony, located in Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district. The land, which had been facing encroachment threats, has now been secured with fencing and official signage declaring it as government property.

The protected land was originally allocated for multiple public purposes according to the 2007 HMDA layout. The allocation included 10 acres designated as Musi Kunta, a traditional water body essential for the area’s ecological balance. Additionally, 4 acres were earmarked as a green belt area to maintain environmental sustainability, while 2 acres were reserved for establishing a government school to serve the educational needs of local residents.

The action was initiated after HYDRAA received complaints through Prajavani, the public grievance redressal system, regarding illegal encroachments on this valuable government land. Local residents had raised concerns about unauthorized occupation attempts that threatened to convert the public land for private use, prompting immediate attention from the authorities.

Acting swiftly on the complaints, HYDRAA conducted a comprehensive ground-level inspection in coordination with officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Revenue Department. The joint inspection team thoroughly surveyed the entire area to assess the extent of encroachments and verify the original land allocation records.

Upon confirming the presence of encroachments during the inspection, HYDRAA took immediate and firm action to protect the public land. The entire 16-acre area was fenced to prevent any further unauthorized entry or occupation. Official boards were installed across the site clearly declaring the land as government property and warning against illegal encroachment attempts.

The decisive action has been widely appreciated by local residents who depend on these public amenities. The preservation of Musi Kunta is particularly significant as water bodies play a crucial role in groundwater recharge and flood management in the region. The protected green belt area will serve environmental conservation purposes, while the land reserved for a government school will eventually provide educational infrastructure to the community.

The community had been concerned about losing these vital public spaces to private encroachment, and the intervention has provided relief to residents who value these amenities.

The operation demonstrates HYDRAA’s commitment to protecting government land and responding swiftly to public grievances. The agency’s coordination with GHMC and Revenue Department officials ensured a comprehensive approach to land protection, setting a precedent for future enforcement actions against encroachments on public property in the district.
