Hyderabad, Sept 23 (Telangana Tribune): Hyderabad is set to witness a cultural revival as IBTIDA – Ek Mehfil, a unique platform dedicated to bringing back the lost charm of mehfils and baithaks, makes its debut in the city. The much-anticipated event will be headlined by the legendary sitar maestro Ustaad Shujaat Hussain Khan on September 27, 2025, at The Leela, Hyderabad.

Founded in 2019, IBTIDA – Ek Mehfil was envisioned to bridge the gap between artists and audiences by reviving intimate gatherings of music, poetry, art, and storytelling. What started as an invite-only cultural movement has now grown into a platform that blends tradition with modern sensibilities, reimagining events as curated cultural experiences.

IBTIDA evenings go beyond music, weaving together textiles, forgotten recipes, craft spirits, evocative design, and soulful narratives that celebrate India’s heritage while appealing to a contemporary audience. The initiative also champions ‘Make in India’ brands, artisans, and classical artists, giving them a space to connect with new generations.

Archival Series Comes to Hyderabad

The Hyderabad edition is part of IBTIDA’s Archival Series – A Collection of Stories of Yesteryears, which focuses on nostalgia, love, and the timeless themes of Ishq, Pyaar, and Mohabbat.

The highlight of the evening will be an exclusive performance by Ustaad Shujaat Hussain Khan, known worldwide for his gayaki ang style and deeply emotive sitar playing. His music, combined with the event’s archival theme, promises to transport audiences back to the golden era of Indian artistry spanning the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

A Cultural Ode to Hyderabad

Organizers say this debut is more than just a performance—it is an immersive cultural ode to Hyderabad, bringing together art lovers, heritage, and soulful music in an atmosphere of reflection and connection. By reintroducing baithaks as spaces of dialogue and belonging, IBTIDA aims to reconnect communities with India’s rich artistic traditions.
