The Task Force, Golconda team along with Kulsumpura Police conducted a raid on an illegal pickle manufacturing unit in Venkatesh Nagar, Jiyaguda, Hyderabad. The joint operation led to the apprehension of one person who was illegally manufacturing various types of pickles in unhygienic conditions without proper licenses or safety measures. A massive quantity of unhygienic pickle products valued at approximately ₹3 lakh was seized from the premises.
The accused has been identified as K. Ravinder, son of K. Stihari, aged 62 years, who operates a pickle business from his residence at Venkatesh Nagar, Jiyaguda. He was found manufacturing and storing large quantities of pickles without any valid license and in conditions that pose serious health risks to consumers. The operation was being run in an unsafe environment using low-quality raw materials.
The seized items include 15 drums of red chilli pickle weighing 2,400 kilograms, 2 drums of amla pickle totaling 320 kilograms, and 9 drums of tomato water weighing 1,440 kilograms. Additionally, authorities confiscated 1 drum of tomato pickle, 1 drum of lemon pickle, and 2 drums of dol lemon weighing 320 kilograms. The raid also uncovered 13 drums of preserved mango with rock salt and 13 drums of preserved lemon with rock salt, each category weighing 2,080 kilograms.
According to the police, the accused was manufacturing various types of pickles including red chilli, amla, tomato water, tomato, and lemon varieties using substandard raw materials. The investigation revealed that stale mangoes and lemons were being preserved using rock salt without adhering to any food safety standards. These unhygienic products were being supplied to various kirana stores, general stores, restaurants, and hotels across the city.
The illegal operation posed significant health risks to consumers. Authorities have warned that consuming such unhygienic pickles manufactured in unsafe conditions can lead to various health issues and diseases. The accused was earning money by endangering human lives through the distribution of these contaminated food products without any regard for public health and safety regulations.
The raid was conducted based on credible intelligence inputs received by the task force team. A case has been registered in Cr.No. 90/2026 under sections 318(1), 274, and 275 of BNS at Kulsumpura Police Station against the accused. The total worth of the seized property has been estimated at ₹3,00,000.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Addl DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City. The raid was carried out with the close supervision of Sri R Venkatesh, Inspector, Golconda Zone Commissioner’s Task Force, and Sri A. Ramulu, Inspector of Kulsumpura. The team also included Sri K. Venkatramana, Sub-Inspector of Police, Golconda Zone Task Force, and Smt K Swetha, Sub-Inspector of Kulsumpura, along with their supporting staff.
The joint operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Hyderabad Police to crack down on illegal food manufacturing units operating without proper licenses and in unhygienic conditions. The authorities have seized all the contaminated stock and are continuing their investigation to identify the supply chain and other individuals involved in the distribution network of these illegal pickle products.
