Hyderabad: The WICCI Holistic Child Development Council teamed up with NGO Marham Resonating Resilience to host a dance therapy event called ‘Land of Happy’ at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) in Secunderabad.
Sohini Roychowdhury, a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and cultural ambassador, led the session. Students at NIEPID participated in therapy that used dance movements to promote inclusion, healing, and joyful expression.
Dr. Srinivasulu, who oversees the vocational department for assisted living at NIEPID, which is part of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, supported this significant initiative, emphasizing the need for inclusive platforms in child development.
Anupama Dalmia, National President of the WICCI Holistic Child Development Council, explained that the program aims to bridge gaps through art and movement, making inclusion a practical experience. Payal Jain, the Council’s Health & Nutrition Lead, also highlighted the initiative’s comprehensive approach.
Dr. Nabat, founder of Marham, stated that these efforts demonstrate dance’s healing potential. She emphasized that true inclusion means creating empowering environments where children with special abilities can express themselves freely.
