Hyderabad: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the Pralay missile twice on July 28 and 29, 2025, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island near the Odisha coast. These tests evaluated the missile’s range capabilities, both minimum and maximum.

DRDO announced on Tuesday that both missiles hit their targets with precision and achieved all mission goals. The missile systems worked perfectly, supported by data from various tracking sensors at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), including ship-based equipment near the impact site.

The Pralay missile uses solid fuel and advanced guidance technology for accurate targeting. It can carry different warheads and tackle multiple target types. Developed by the Research Centre Imarat with help from other DRDO labs like the Defence Research & Development Laboratory, the Advanced Systems Laboratory, and the Armament Research & Development Establishment, the missile also involved industry partners such as Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, along with several MSMEs.
