Indiramma Beneficiaries to Receive Rs 5 Lakh in 4 Phases: Ponguleti

Khammam: Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations (I&PR), Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, announced a new housing initiative where Indiramma houses will be sanctioned exclusively in the names of women beneficiaries. Each house will cover an area of 400 square feet and will be constructed with a budget of Rs 5 lakhs. The houses will be provided in four phases, the Minister mentioned on Monday.

Explaining the phased distribution of funds, the Minister said that beneficiaries will receive Rs 1.25 lakh when the foundation is laid. An additional Rs 1.75 lakh will be given once the construction reaches the slab level, and a final instalment of Rs 1 lakh will be provided when the house is ready for occupancy.

Ponguleti emphasized that the selection and distribution process would be transparent, ensuring that only deserving families benefit from the scheme. The focus will be on fairness, without any biases based on party affiliation, caste, or religion.

While visiting Khammam district, where he inaugurated several developmental projects, the Minister spoke to the media about the government’s commitment to improving housing for the poor. He criticized previous administrations, accusing them of using housing schemes as election tactics. In contrast, he assured that the current government is focused on delivering real results.

Ponguleti pointed out that under the previous Congress-led government in Telangana, 19.56 lakh houses were built during the leadership of YSR. Now, the Indiramma scheme aims to go even further by ensuring housing for the poor in every village through gram sabhas.

The Minister also announced that the process of selecting beneficiaries would be accelerated through a green channel, and the final list of eligible families would be completed by the end of November. The government has set an ambitious goal to build at least 20 lakh houses over the next four years.

To ensure accountability and better monitoring, Ponguleti revealed that a special app would be developed to track the progress of the scheme. Starting from November 20, gram sabhas will begin selecting beneficiaries. Additionally, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing delayed double-bedroom houses, ensuring that all necessary infrastructure and allotments are provided to beneficiaries.
