HyderabadDMK Afzal, a legendary Indian footballer and 1962 Asian Games gold medallist, passed away on Wednesday, leaving the sports community in mourning.

Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for Tourism and Sports, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. On Thursday, he extended heartfelt condolences to Afzal’s family, friends, and former teammates.

Janab Afzal was not only a gifted player but also a respected figure in Indian football,” Ranjan said. “His achievements, especially the gold medal win in 1962, will remain a proud moment in our sports history.”
