Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao recently sparked a political discussion with his comments about the uncertainty of winning the next election and his party’s future. His remarks quickly gained attention on social media.
On September 11, a video clip of the minister became widely shared online. He was speaking at a public meeting in Boath mandal, where locals and MLA Anil Jadhav requested the area’s upgrade to a revenue division. During the event, he handed out Indiramma housing approvals to beneficiaries. Jupally emphasized that he avoids making empty promises, even in his own constituency.
Jupally questioned, “How can I promise to make Boath a revenue division if I might not win the next election?” He also mentioned the uncertainty of Congress regaining power. His statements quickly went viral, stirring significant attention on social media.
Jupally Clarifies His Position
Later, Jupally addressed the situation, stating that his comments were misunderstood. During a Gandhi Bhavan press conference on Friday, he explained his reluctance to make promises he couldn’t keep. “We can’t be sure if the party in power will fulfill its promises. Hence, I won’t guarantee anything,” he stated.
The minister assured the public of his commitment to working honestly and diligently. He highlighted his electoral history, noting six wins out of seven contests, attributing his success to his work. He accused the BRS of misrepresenting his statements on social media. Jupally expressed confidence that, regardless of opposition efforts, Congress would govern the state for the next ten years.
