Kazipet: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy visited the new Railway Manufacturing Unit in Kazipet. They praised its swift progress. The factory, costing Rs 500 crore, will begin full operations by 2026, meeting a long-standing demand in Warangal.

The factory, described as a “mega factory,” will produce railway coaches and engines and work on metro train design and production. This brings advanced technology to Telangana. Minister Vaishnaw was pleased with the construction speed and emphasized the government’s dedication to modernizing the railway system in the state.

Minister Kishan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Vaishnaw for making Warangal’s long-awaited dream a reality. He mentioned that the idea of a coach factory in Warangal started nearly 40 years ago, initiated by former PM PV Narasimha Rao. The project gained momentum under Prime Minister Modi, who laid the foundation stone. The RMU is expected to provide direct jobs to around 3,000 people and many indirect jobs in sectors like transportation and maintenance.

Kishan Reddy also highlighted central government projects like the approval of the textile industry and the renovation of historic sites in Warangal. He noted the development of 40 railway stations across Telangana, highlighting their local heritage and improved facilities.

The Warangal Ring Road project is halfway done. Reddy stressed the need for an airport in Warangal to support the region’s infrastructure. He mentioned ongoing efforts to acquire land for aviation facilities, appealing to both former CM KCR and the current Congress government.

Reddy addressed critics questioning the BJP government’s contributions to Telangana, inviting them to witness the visible changes under Modi’s leadership.

In response to a query, Kishan Reddy mentioned that according to the state government’s RR policy, job placements could be recommended for those who provided land for the project. This approach has been used in other projects as well.
