Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged young people to stand up for their rights during these challenging times. He encouraged them to aim for 2029 as the year when Rahul Gandhi becomes India’s Prime Minister. He stressed that the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections will be crucial for the country’s future in 2029.
Speaking at the MP Merit Awards – 2025 in Alappuzha, he claimed that the BJP is taking away youth rights, while the Congress defends constitutional rights. “Youth are our ambassadors,” he said. He trusts in their power to drive change.
He noted that without financial and media backing, Congress relies on the youth. The 2029 Lok Sabha elections will be a significant contest between two political forces, and young people must defend democracy.
In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister invited Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to run from Telangana. They chose Kerala, calling it their ‘Karmabhumi.’ He urged everyone to join the movement against vote theft to protect voting rights and the Constitution.
The CM proposed lowering the age to contest Assembly elections to 21 years. He argued that if 21-year-old IAS officers manage districts well, young people should run for MLA positions. He called for a constitutional amendment, citing former PM Rajiv Gandhi who granted voting rights at 18. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of denying youth their rights.
He also highlighted Telangana’s economic initiatives under Telangana Rising-2047. The state aims for a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
