Hyderabad: On September 26, Parents-Teachers’ Meetings (PTMs) took place in Government Junior Colleges throughout Telangana, achieving great success. These meetings, organized by the Intermediate Education Department, showcased a strengthening partnership between families and schools, with enthusiastic participation from students and their parents, creating a lively atmosphere.
A total of 33,880 parents and guardians joined the PTMs. Hyderabad-II, Khammam, and Rangareddy districts saw the highest attendance. The main aims were to discuss students’ academic progress, attendance, and behavior in class. Parents also shared ideas to enhance college operations, and they discussed students’ involvement in sports and cultural events. Principals and teachers engaged with parents, highlighting the importance of working together for students’ success.
Colleges informed parents about government initiatives led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to improve education quality. These efforts include renovated classrooms and monthly sanitation grants between Rs 12,000 and Rs 20,000. Free online coaching for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, EAPCET, and CLAT is available through Physics Wala and Khan Academy partnerships. Security has been enhanced with CCTV cameras installed in each classroom, connected to the central board office, along with upgraded washroom facilities.
Each college received Rs 25,000 for science lab equipment and Rs 10,000 for sports items. Digital tools like FRS and HRMS track student attendance and performance. Parents offered suggestions, which the department plans to use for future improvements, aiming to enhance academic results and communication between educators and families.
Hostel wardens and Amma Adarsh School committee leaders participated, contributing to the program’s success. Outstanding students and their parents were honored, highlighting the importance of academic achievement and parental involvement. The Intermediate Education Department is committed to a student-focused education system and stressed that active parental participation is crucial for better learning outcomes. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive environment in all junior colleges, ensuring every student gets the necessary guidance and resources to succeed, according to the TGBIE.
